What is Herbal Coffee? A Recipe for a Perfect Cup.

Herbal coffee, like our very own Garden Coffee, is a tasty and nourishing alternative to your traditional (and possibly favorite) beverage. Herbal coffee can be blended in a variety of different ways but is commonly made with Roasted Chicory Root, Roasted Dandelion Root, and possibly a few extra herbal powders to enhance its flavor or provide function support.

How Does it Taste?

Herbal coffee has a distinct taste; Rich, nutty, deep, and a bit bitter. How you prepare the coffee alternative will certainly influence its taste.

Are There Any Benefits?

In addition to opting in for this caffeine-free alternative for your first (or perhaps second?) cup of coffee for the day, there may be other benefits to enjoying this beverage.

Chicory and Dandelion are bitter Herbs, meaning that when consumed before a meal they may aid in digestion by influencing digestive enzymes. So, it’s possible that Herbal Coffee can support digestive function. In our Garden Coffee, we blend Roasted Dandelion Root, Roasted Chicory Root, and Rose Powder which are all known as prebiotics. Prebiotics are what feed your probiotics, and in turn, may also support digestion and your gut microbiome.

Are There Any Precautions?

As with any herb before starting a regime you should discuss it with your doctor. As a general rule of thumb, those with Kidney Disorders, Gallbladder Disorders (or removal), and those that are pregnant should avoid Herbal coffee.

Brewing the Coffee Alternative

Always follow the directions of the coffee alternative you purchase. However, if you decide to brew your own or purchase one in our shop we invite you to follow the recipe below.
